ABOUT ME
This Is My Story
I found his start in music at a young age when he would sing with my many brothers and sisters around the house in the southern San Francisco bay area in a town called Morgan Hill near San Jose.
From there, I became classically trained and did many old fashioned songs and a few broadway style ones. In addition, I listened to many power pop, pop/R&B, and alternative songs that were on the radio or relatively well known for indie artists. Lastly, I joined a choir in Junior College.
Later on, when I became a Christian at the age of 18, I started listening to Christian music on Pandora such as The Afters, Relient K, Switchfoot, Britt Nicole, Toby Mac and many other artists. I was very inspired and surprised by the lyrics and these artists’ constant positivity when faced with life’s challenges. That’s when I found out about the genre CCM, which I write now in an alternative style.
After going to college, making friends, and reading the new and old testament and understanding a better way of life, I discovered that something was missing. I was missing that purpose that has always been on his spirit. Therefore, I decided to join a worship team at my church and also a choir hosted by an addiction recovery center I was working for, whose focus was Christian Contemporary songs.
After a while, I wanted to share my own story. My life has been characterized by many trials, failures, yet constant encouragement and courage in the face of difficulty. I’ve discovered that life is not meant to be lived alone, but must be lived interdependently with others.
Around 2019, just before the pandemic, I started to write songs during temporary work I was hired for. Since then, I’ve tried to make the songwriting dream a reality. Thanks to a couple studios and a community called Song Chasers, I’ve been able to pursue this God-given dream to write songs that many people will likely benefit from.
Advanced in Vocals, Intermediate in Guitar Chords.
With classical training, contemporary voice teachers, and a lot of practice, I had an award in vocals at 18, and was invited and attended a voice competition and made it to round 2. For guitar, I was trained and can do chords to sing along to.
Worship Team for 3 Years
In late 2017- early 2021, Rowan was on the worship team at Family Life Christian Center (Now Family Life Church) as a singer and usually helped with the choruses and harmonies. I also was on the worship team at a young adults group for a short time in late 2023-early 2024.
An EP and A Few Singles Released
After much trial, error, and overcoming mind battles day by day, I have written an EP and a grand total of 12 released songs and over 400 unreleased songs. My personal favorites are “Root that Strengthens Me” “Worth Fighting For,” “Patience through the Process,” and “Peace Be Still.”
3 Things About my Music
#1
Proclaiming the Truth that Christ has come to give us life, and that more abundantly.
My songs focus on the fact that Jesus healed, that people can become new creations through trusting in him and receiving the free gift of grace he has given. Finding balance is a theme in my songs. Strength without feeling is a theme I avoid; and patience, gentleness, interdependence, and justice are solid themes in my music, all related to my personal experience, to help you in your unique experiences and our common humanity.
#2
Honesty and Integrity is the Best Policy
Everyone has made mistakes, and when a person keeps making them they often feel unwanted, isolated, or disconnected. Sometimes people also feel this way due to their family of origin, or problems in society. However, what people can do is be honest about their needs, feelings, and actions so that they can be empowered in difficult circumstances. In my music, I try to reflect these values because everyone needs a space to be vulnerable, grow, and make healthy choices to become stronger and reasonably confident, but not overly confident.
#3
Honoring Boundaries in Relationships of all Kinds
Everyone longs for love, and most long for marriage. However, in society boundaries have been blurred between the sexes and young people end up feeling rejected, confused, and insecure. However, honoring the title of a relationship, its responsibilities, and its inevitable failures and humanness can do a lot to restore common ground, decency, honor, dignity and understanding between all types of people. In my music, I try to reflect these values in the mind battles, emotional struggles, unrequited love, and general heartbreak I’ve faced. Due to this, there are pop and alternative themes in some songs, though my genre is still Alternative Pop CCM.
