Rowan’s Latest Music
In the Middle – Single
“In the Middle” is a song written about the trials and complexities of living life under the sun. Written with artist Josh Gittens, “In the Middle” largely touches on the themes of Romans 8:28. This song is about a period in my life many years ago when things were so overwhelming that I could hardly get up to go to work and do daily tasks – I was also letting go of a relationship with a person I thought I might marry. “In the Middle,” also produced by Josh Gittens, has strong synth textures, passionate vocals, and an electric guitar that will make you believe that God is truly with you in any trial that you face, and any negative feeling, like depression you may face.
Stuttering – Single
“Stuttering” is a song about the romantic moments when you feel strongly about a crush and the words that come out tend to make you stutter. “Stuttering” is based on a time when I was all in for a relationship and I was working up the courage to spend time with her and get to know her. “Stuttering” also touches on themes of social anxiety and the concept of letting go if the romance or crush is too much to handle. This song is solidly indie-pop and has an uplifting piano and a memorable catchy chorus where Rowan sounds like he is stutterring over the word “stuttering.” Hope you enjoy the song!
Secret Keeper – Single
“Secret Keeper” is a catchy Christian Pop/folk song written with songwriter and artist Carolyn Cates. The theme of the song has to do with dealing with different issues of youth – especially when it comes to dealing with the different groups that tend to form cliques even into adulthood. This song is about dealing with the gossip and differences of all of that, and remembering that God is ultimately the best confidante.
Prevent the Accidentally – Single
“Prevent the Accidentally” is a song written during a tumultous time after I accidentally got into a car accident. By the grace of God no one was injured, and I was analyzing and overthinking many things in life, and trying to find meaning. “Prevent the Accidentally,” is co-written with talented artist Jay El Dee, it features catchy vocals, an anthemic chorus, and plenty of synthesizers that has given me many comparisons to musical artist Owl City.
Peace Be Still – Single
“Peace Be Still” is a Christmas song written with Beverly Hall and Lisa Senkbeil. This song is about the times when Jesus said to the wind and the waves “peace be still” and the attitude and heart posture of letting things go and keeping harmony during the Christmas season especially, but year round as well.
Memories that Keep Us Together – Single
“Memories that Keep Us Together” is a song written about family gatherings and having trouble with meeting expectations. Yet at the end of the day, self expression and shared experiences keep those who are close together.
Patience through the Process – Single
“Patience through the Process” was written with Isabel Maggie, and it’s a song that talks about trusting in God’s plan even when the process takes a long time and it’s hard to keep patience or stillness. This song is a journey through that process.
Windy Road – Single
“Windy Road” was written during my time in Los Angeles, CA, and is about life being like a windy road with many problems, twists and turns. However, the single also is reflective and the song is sung with the idea that it’s good to go down a windy road and learn from those mistakes, failures, and obstables that are placed in your path, with the right heart posture.
New Life Reigns – EP
“New Life Reigns – EP” was written during a time when I was very introspective in life and trying to recover from insults and things spoken against me. During this time, I learned the power of forgiveness and the idea that “love keeps no record of wrongs.” There are 5 tracks on this album, all written from 2020-2022. The main point of the album is to realize that New Life indeed reigns in Christ and that anyone can become a new creation..
Root that Strengthens Me
This first song is called “Root that Strengthens Me.” This track is about the recollection of when Rowan was first lead to Christ through his old pastor in San Jose, CA. That time was joyous and this song is about recalling the testimony of overcoming loneliness and feeling lost outside of a relationship. Worth Fighting For
“Worth Fighting For” was written during a transitional time in Rowan’s life. This song is about fighting for your life when it seems impossible. Thankfully, when things seem difficult, God can make a way. Rowan’s personal favorite line of the song is “replacing lies with truth, each and every day, so that love’s worth fighting for.” Love is worth fighting for in so many areas of life. Though some people may reject your personality or the way you do things, God never does. For the people who care and for the sake of Christ, love and life is always worth fighting for. Listen below.
Guiding me Home
“Guiding me Home” is a song released around the middle of the pandemic. Rowan was searching for a place to call home when he had some mental health issues. Even though people fail you, however, there is still forgiveness, reconciliation, and people who are always close to you. This proved true for Rowan’s family, who, despite their differences, were there for Rowan during a time when Rowan experienced a time of confusion, feeling lost, and overcoming personal sin. Rowan realized that it’s okay not to be okay and to have strong boundaires for things that don’t work out. Lastly, Rowan learned years later that the only confidence necessary in life is that which you need, not a false confidence based on greed. Listen below.
